When social media apps come into discussion you usually hear the big three: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. One app that people tend to forget is the online video powerhouse, YouTube. It’s the most popular online video platform in the U.S., by number of total streams and it has 400 hours of video content uploaded every hour. That’s a ton of videos. That being said, here are 2 nifty hacks so to enjoy YouTube even more on your iPhone!
2 Nifty YouTube Hacks for your iPhone
1. Listening to Music on YouTube Made Easier
Some users turn to YouTube to fulfill their musical needs and that’s awesome because there’s good music to be found in there! What sucks though is that in order to listen to it, you need to keep the app constantly open. This can be frustrating especially when you’re on the go. This hack is for those who wish to listen to music on YouTube without keeping the app open!
First thing you need to do is open Safari. Go to www.youtube.com (make sure to not open the app when it prompts you to!) and search for the video you want to play/listen to. Once the video starts playing press the home button to return to the main menu of your iPhone. After that, open up the Control Centre (you can do this by dragging up the bottom of your screen) then you’ll see the play button with the title of your YouTube video. Simply press play and enjoy the music without having the need to be on the YouTube app!
2. Saving Videos to your Camera Roll
YouTube recently released YouTube Red which allows you to watch videos even when you’re offline. For those of you who don’t have YouTube Red (it’s only available in the U.S. as of now) this hack will show you how to save your favorite YouTube videos and watch them later throughout the day! First thing you’ll need to do is go to the App Store and download the app “Documents 5”.
When it’s done downloading, open it (it may be titled “Documents” on your iPhone) and click the icon that looks like Safari on the bottom right. Type “en.savefrom.net” on the address bar on top of the window and press Go. Press the Home button to go back to the main menu and then open your YouTube app or access YouTube through Safari. Find the video you want to download and click “Share” (it’s an arrow pointing to the right).
Find the URL, hold it, and press Copy to copy it. Return to Documents 5 and then Paste the URL you just copied into the “Enter the URL” section of the app. You can do this the same way you copied the URL; hold the text box until the command appears. Press the Blue Go and a green Download button will be shown. Select the quality of the video you’ll download with the drop-down list and then after the Save File screen opens, type the name you’d like to give the video.
The video will start downloading and once it’s finished tap on the file name to open the Download menu. Last step is to drag the video to your Camera Roll folder. There you have it!
It can be a daunting task but it’s simple once you get the hang of it. So that’s it! We hope you enjoyed these 2 nifty YouTube hacks for your iPhone by yours truly!
