Apple unveiled a smaller iPhone 5S-like smartphone, the iPhone SE, during its “In the Loop” event a few weeks ago.
The iPhone SE provides the feel of a little 4-inch iPhone but with the power of an iPhone 6S.
5 Things You Didn’t Know About the iPhone SE
The iPhone SE Has a 4-Inch Size
Apple switched to the path of large screen iPhones, after several years of insisting that it’s customers preferred phone they could operating in one hand. Finally, after some market research, Apple sprang back for the 4-inch iPhone with the new iPhone SE
.
This new iPhone has most of its components from the iPhone 6S – An A9 processor, 2 GB RAM, Apple Pay, a 12 MP camera and a lot more.
This smaller sized phone will not only target people who prefer small sized phones but emerging markets in India, where expensive phones are not really entertained.
The iPhone SE Has No 3D Touch
Though the iPhone SE has a lot in common with the iPhone 6S. One of the most sought after features of the latest flagship is not on the iPhone SE, at least for now.
Apple’s 3D Touch technology uses a pressure-sensitive touchscreen that allows for new ways of interacting with the phone by pressing the screen harder than you normally would.
This lets you access menu items much faster and perform other actions like previewing links in messages.
Even though it’s a bit disappointing for 3D Touch to be absent on the SE, the phone still packs powerful hardware, and this is a great advantage.
The iPhone SE Has Faster Internet
Thanks for the 802.11ac WiFi and the 4G LTE chip, browsing the internet, streaming videos and updating your apps will be quicker than ever, significantly than the iPhone 5S.
Apple claims adding more bands to the iPhone SE provides a faster experience while also providing faster speeds when connected via Bluetooth devices like the Apple Watch.
The iPhone SE Has Two Storage Options
The iPhone SE is limited to two capacities: 16GB and 64GB. If you’re expecting to have a 4-inch iPhone with any storage option but these, you’re at the wrong place.
Don’t expect to use the 16GB model for space-consuming features like Live Photos and 4K Video though it’s hardware will last you a few years.
The SE sells at 16GB for $399 and the 64GB model is a $100 more.
The iPhone SE is the most powerful 4-Inch Smartphone Yet
There’s no doubt the iPhone SE is an amazing phone. With the internals of an iPhone 6S, including a 2GB RAM, there is a vast improvement in multi-tasking performance.
This means you can open more Safari tabs and switch between more apps. The iPhone SE offers a 12 MP camera with the ability to shoot 4K video. The TouchID fingerprint scanner and Apple Pay are included in the new iPhone as well.
The iPhone SE would appeal to a lot of people, especially those who consider size and cost. If you love big-screen iPhones, then the iPhone SE probably isn’t for you.
