Looking for a healthy new start to the year? Whilst 2015 may already be under way, there’s no excuse to not get started with a new exercise regime today.
For most people, simply creating a reliable routine is more than enough to help them get started, so we will be sharing the best exercise apps currently available.
Whilst you may be able to find a more premium experience from paid apps, we will be focusing on exercise apps that can be picked up for free. This way, you can start exercising without needing to get through a paywall.
7 Minute Workout App
The concept of exercising for hours each day seems very daunting for most beginners, but don’t feel dismayed. You can easily fit in a healthy amount of exercise into a very small portion of time. In fact, many 7 minute workouts attempt to give fitness enthusiasts the chance to get through their exercise routine each morning before they have to rush out the door.
The 7 Minute Workout App takes the whole concept and provides a beautiful interface for users to access an exercise routine from easily.
On default settings, the 7 minute workout app will consist of 12 exercises, all of which will take 30 seconds each. There will be 10 second breaks between each exercise, making a total of 7 minutes. The only equipment you need for this app is a chair and a wall.
If you want to tone down the speed a little, or increase the intensity, you can change how long your workout lasts as well as other variables. You’ll also be given an audible guide that will tell you when each exercise needs to be changed.
Fitocracy
Fitocracy takes exercise and makes it social. Whilst a lot of Fitocracy is based around gamification and sharing progress with friends, there is a strong base of great fitness and exercise resources. This may not be the best option for absolute beginners, but if you’ve stepped into the world of exercising before, you will be happy with what is waiting.
There are dozens of exercises that you can track with Fitocracy, and with the helpful community at arms length, you will always have a place to share your progress.
JEFIT
JEFIT may just be the most comprehensive mobile strength training app. With thousands of routines that can be categorised by targeted muscles, you’ll be able to delve into a wide library of bodybuilding potential. This app is a little complicated for the newcomer to bodybuilding, but if you are ready to delve into more targeted workouts, JEFIT is the place to start.
JEFIT is free, but it features ads. The full version includes extra features and removes the in-app advertisements. Whether you pay or not, you should be able to get some functionality out of the game.
Hopefully one of the best exercise apps in this list will appeal to you. Even if you haven’t kept true to your new year’s resolutions, it doesn’t mean you can’t get back on track now.
