As we go about our daily activities, our smartphones and tablets go through a silent torture. Drops and hits, dust, water, oil are some of the several factors our smart devices encounter every time we make use of them, and with time, this can have an adverse effect.
Somehow, particles find their way into the spaces around the physical buttons on these devices, causing them to get stuck and making them hard to press.
Having a stuck button doesn’t mean it’s mechanically broken. Cleaning the phone should fix those stuck buttons on your device. In this article, I’ll show you how it’s done.
Easy Steps to Fix Stuck Buttons on Your Phone or Tablet
What you need:
- Isopropyl alcohol
- Cotton swabs or Q-Tips
- Canned air duster
1. Clean Around the Sides Of the Button
First of all, turn off your device and remove the battery (only if you have a removable battery). Next, dip your cotton swab or Q-Tip into some highly concentrated isopropyl alcohol. Fully saturate the swab but make sure there’s no excess liquid dripping from the material.
From there, thoroughly clean the sides of the stuck button on the surfaces that stick out from your phone. Work the cotton swabs as far down into spaces as possible. As a best practice, turn your phone upside-down while you clean so that gravity prevents any alcohol from seeping in into your device.
After you’ve cleaned all the parts of the stuck button you can access, press the button a few times to help free any grime that has accumulated.
2. Clean the Frame
Now that you’ve cleaned around the sides of the buttons, clean the part of your device that the button protrudes from. This part is a bit tricky, as the button fills the gap entirely, but pressing down the stuck button should enable you to clean this area more effectively.
Hold down one side of the button firmly, and then use your alcohol-soaked cotton fiber to clean inside of the frame where your device’s button is located. When you’re done, switch to the opposite side of the button and clean the area that your finger previously was.
3. Blow Debris Away with a Canned Air Duster
After cleaning around the stuck button and it’s surrounding frame, grab some canned and place the nozzle alongside the stuck button. From here, release a few quick bursts of compressed air to help remove any remaining debris, but make sure you don’t blow any dirt or grime back into the device.
By now, your stuck button should be untangled and a lot more clicky. You should try repeating the above steps a few more times to clean out all the dirt and dust in your phone or tablet. Eventually, the stuck button should finally work like it’s new.
Only do this if you are 100{76ac33845123b25982ffda0eb6f606179ce899e677f3c86d035d7b9fa6b6d307} sure of what you are doing. Make sure no liquid gets into the device.
