Whilst most mobile networks do not keep hold of your Android text messages online, there are methods you can use to view your SMS messages on the internet or via your PC. There are more options to view and respond to messages remotely on Android than there are on other mobile operating systems, and we’ve listed some of the best options you can choose below.
How to Read My Android Text Messages Online
Android SMS Desktop Apps
There are quite a few apps and websites out there that you can use to send and receive text messages remotely. Some of these options are free, whilst others cost a fee to use. We’ll be listing a couple of the best Android SMS desktop apps below.
DeskSMS
With DeskSMS, you will be able to download an app that pairs your phone up with your Google email address. Once the connection is set up, you will start to receive emails every time you get a text message. You will be able to read your texts via these emails, and respond to them as if you were responding to an email.
When you hit reply, your email will be sent to your recipient in the form of an SMS text message, and they will receive their message on their mobile.
DeskSMS is free for 14 days, but after this point it costs $5 a year to use. 14 days should give you more than enough time to work out if DeskSMS is right for you, and $5/year really isn’t much considering the cost of many mobile contracts and deals.
Google Voice
Whilst this option isn’t 100{76ac33845123b25982ffda0eb6f606179ce899e677f3c86d035d7b9fa6b6d307} stable, you can use it to send and receive text messages practically for free. With Google Voice you can set up a real number, or port over your current mobile number. Once this has been done, you will be able to send ‘emails’ to your mobile contacts, and they will be sent out to their mobiles in the form of a text message.
For the most part, Google Voice text messaging seems to work quite well, but the contacts list can sometimes bug out, and Google rarely update the software to fix issues.
Virtual Remote App
If you aren’t certain the above options will work out for you, you may want to look into installing a virtual remote app. With this, you will be able to view and interact with your mobile device remotely from your PC.
Virtual remote apps come in two sections – you are given the app for your mobile device, and the software for your PC. You can then connect up two devices remotely, as long as both have the right software installed.
Once connected, you will be able to view and interact with your mobile device, access apps, browse the web and of course, send text messages. Instead of directly allowing you to send messages, this method simply allows you to take control of your mobile from a remote location. We’d suggest checking out AirDroid or TeamViewer for Android.
Monitoring Software
Monitoring software usually costs a monthly or yearly fee, but with it you will be able to view and send texts remotely from your PC, as well as perform other functions that can help to keep your mobile device safe. You can read more about that here.
As you can see, there are a lot of options that will allow you to read your Android text messages online, each of which have their own pros and cons.
