Presenting to you, the iPhone X… No, do not call it X- phone, like the X- men. It is “X”, the roman numeral signifying the number 10. So it is “iPhone 10”.
Now, on to the rest of the details…
iPhone X, the great… Everything You Should Know
iPhone X Display
Apple was always the leader in its display technology. With industry leaders like Samsung and LG working towards a flatter screens and bezel- free look for their entertainment TVs, this concept is becoming a necessity on smartphones.
iPhone X has a edge- to- edge screen, specifically using OLED Super Retina technology. The user will be looking at a 5.8” display, safely secured in an extremely hard glass “shell”. In fact the entire phone hardware is encased in a glass. Some other features enhancing this display experience are HDR10, Dolby Vision, True Tone and 3D Touch.
The phone colors are simplified and limited to—“Silver” and “Space Grey”.
On a side note, this also means the usual “Home” button is removed. Swiping from bottom will help the user navigate in between apps.
iPhone’s Eye
On the front, the 7MP is the main camera. This is further accessorized with an infrared secondary camera, dot camera and a flood illuminator. Together these enable unlocking the phone using the Face ID technology. You can also entertain yourself by animating your emoji to match your face expressions, with this feature, a form of augmented reality (AR). The Face ID is a replacement to the TouchID feature from before.
Amateur Selfies are a thing of past with the new iPhone X. The above described technology enables Professional- level “Portrait” selfies.
The rear camera is 12MP. This is in essence a dual camera system. While the usual f/1.8 aperture ensures great photographs for general scenes, f/2.4 is for low light conditions. Image is stabilized as well. Features like autofocus and more robust processing of pixels keep increasing the bars for this iPhone.
A11 processor
From its very existence, Apple has embedded their proprietary chips and it is no different this time around. It is the A11 Bionic Processor, a 6- core CPU, out of which 2 are strictly focussed on performance and 4 cores on efficiency.
Apple promises for an overall of 25{76ac33845123b25982ffda0eb6f606179ce899e677f3c86d035d7b9fa6b6d307} faster data, functions and graphics performance with this chip. For an approximate idea of this chip’s capability, it can run 600,000,000,000 operations within a second. After all, with more enhanced features for every dimension, a more effective processor is needed to avoid any downtime with performance.
Brainpower
So many additional features requires 2 things—robust processor and memory space. Options for storage size are up to 256GB.
Charging
Before commenting about Apple’s move to contain the entire phone in a glass case, instead of the usual stainless steel back, here is a piece of another great news. Charge iPhone X without any wires using the Qi coil charging technology. While this will be 50{76ac33845123b25982ffda0eb6f606179ce899e677f3c86d035d7b9fa6b6d307} slower than charging with wire, iPhone can be left on any wireless charging pod to get some energy boost.
Apple reports that iPhone X should withstand an additional 2 hours of operation compared to previous editions.
Yes, it is an iPhone being jealous for. But the question comes— how important are these features for our day- to- day use? What are your thoughts?
