waterproof smartphoneIf you use your phone or tablet on a daily basis, then without even realizing it there are numerous details stored on your device that would cause disarray and unnecessary stress in your life, if lost.

With statistics showing that smartphone use is higher than ever, that also translates into more activities taking place, more data being transferred, conversations held, details discussed and other digital communication using your phone or tablet.

It is therefore essential to keep regular backups for all your devices, including and especially your Android! Here are five of the best reasons to keep a regular backup of your Android.

Smartphone Theft on the Rise

Smartphone theft is at higher rates than ever. New developments in smart phone technology are being specifically guided towards the prevention of theft. This is clearly shown by “kill switch” technology that is current in supply by Apple throughout the UK, with Microsoft having clear plans to follow suit.

Ensure that your data is backed up, you never know when misfortunate might take a swipe at you. As phones become better, faster and fancier the urge to own them becomes greater, and theft slowly but surely begins to rear its ugly head.

Financial Crisis or Provider Collapse

If you are the owner of a smartphone that is on contract then you never know when you may be forced to part with your beloved Android device. As gloomy as it may seem, statistics reveal that over 49{76ac33845123b25982ffda0eb6f606179ce899e677f3c86d035d7b9fa6b6d307} of Americans are forced to part with their smartphones as the result of financial hardship.

Even if you are 100{76ac33845123b25982ffda0eb6f606179ce899e677f3c86d035d7b9fa6b6d307} secure in this department, you never know when even a large company may collapse, in turn putting your device offline, at times even forcing a recall of all contract based phones.

An Essential Part of Life, well for almost half of us

The same study referenced above also highlighted that 46{76ac33845123b25982ffda0eb6f606179ce899e677f3c86d035d7b9fa6b6d307} of Americans said that they could not live without their smartphone. If a device can become so important that surely we should be thinking about the nature of what is bringing the value to the device. Regular backups are not optional anymore, they are essential.

Phones & Tablets Break… Often!

TechArmor revealed that 5.9 billion dollars has been spent repairing smartphones and tablets in the United States. If that is not a clear indication that hardware fails, then I don’t know what is. Their study also revealed then men are most likely to damage or break their phones whilst in the garage, so take care guys. Technology cannot and will not last, the only question is until when it will last.

Always keep a regular backup, you will thank your lucky stars when the crunching sound coming from beneath you turns out to be your once-flat, stylish smartphone.

Data Corruption

Whether your storage medium fails as a result of age and use, or whether it gets corrupted by malware well before then, you will most likely suffer the loss of integrity of your data at some stage during the ownership of your phone or tablet. A regular backup will ensure that regardless of how data is lost, corrupted, deleted, reversible or irreversible, you will still have a current backup ready and good to go.
