In Parental Controls: iPad Apps and Software, we are going to be taking a look at the different types of software you can use to have some sort of parental control over your children’s devices.
Tablet Monitoring Software
The best, most extensive parental controls for iPads can be found within tablet monitoring software. These programs are designed to give you the most information about what your child is doing, and provide data and tools to stop your child from doing certain things.
The trouble is with restricting content on other parental control apps is that your child may find methods around the restrictions. With monitoring software, you can view everything your child does do on their device, so you’ll always be aware.
This approach allows you to stop your child from viewing certain content or using unsuitable apps.
There are a variety of different tablet monitoring solutions out there, and you can find out more about them here, in our tablet monitoring comparison.
On this list, there are three monitoring solutions in particular that stand out from the crowd.
mSpy
Firstly, there is mSpy. This is a great monitoring software that comes with a wide range of monitoring tools. As well as being able to monitor app download history and browser activity, you can also view the GPS location of the device, view IM messages, and many other online or SMS conversations.
You can learn more about mSpy here.
WebWatcher
WebWatcher is also another great tablet monitoring program that can be used with an iPad. WebWatcher has a variety of features, including some that have been mentioned above.
The highlights of WebWatcher are the unique web features that allow you to remotely view what your child is doing on the internet. Unfortunately you can’t block websites or applications with WebWatcher, but you can learn more about what you can do here.
FlexiSpy
Our final suggestion is another monitoring software called Flexispy.
Flexispy is an in-depth monitoring solution that comes with dozens of features that can help you keep track of what your child is doing, and block him or her from the content you don’t want your child to be viewing online.
On top of being able to do many of the features mentioned above, Flexispy can monitor IM conversations, crack passwords, view multimedia and keep logs of everything within a useful dashboard.

iPad Restrictions
If you aren’t sure about getting a monitoring software, you could use the restrictions settings that come pre-installed with iOS 8.0+ devices.
These settings allow you to block access to any apps and certain content that you specify, stopping your child from doing certain activities with their iPad.
Unfortunately, the iPad restrictions feature is very limited in terms of functionality when compared to other device monitoring solutions.
You can learn more about iOS restrictions and how to use them here.
