Review: Bitdefender Anti Theft for Android Users

bitdefender_antitheft

In this review, we shall be taking a look at Bitdefender Anti Theft for Android Users. We’ll be gauging the features of the new theft protection software from Bitdefender to see just how useful it will become if your smartphone does happen to get stolen. We’ve all seen countless anti-theft apps now, but what can Bitdefender do once your phone goes missing? Check out our review below.

Locate your Device

Once you have set up a device with the anti-theft software from Bitdefender, you will be able to head to a portion of their online website called MyBitdefender. From here, you can view location data about all of your linked up devices.

If it so happens that your smartphone goes missing, MyBitdefender will be able to ping to your smartphone and send back location data that you can display through Google Maps. Whilst this is a pretty common feature for anti-theft software, MyBitdefender allows you to link up multiple devices, whether it’s a smartphone, tablet, or even a laptop.

Once your device is missing, the online dashboard can help you to track down your device no matter where you are. This can be handy for those situations where you misplace your device outside, and you’d like to find it’s location before anybody else has a chance to pick it up. By using a friend’s device, you can track the location of your device without having to head back home.

Lock Down

If it happens that somebody has stolen your phone, being able to locate it is the first step to tracking it down before it gets sold on or shipped away. However, once a thief has your phone, it’s not just the device itself that you need to worry about anymore.

There is plenty of personal information that could be sitting on your phone, and thieves could get a lot of value out of it. You may even still be logged in to important websites like PayPal or Amazon, and with this, thieves will be able to drain your debit card of cash.

Thankfully, the anti-theft software from Bitdefender does include a lock feature. With this, you’ll be able to completely lock down your device remotely. Once locked down, nobody will be able to access anything from your phone. In fact, the lock is so restrictive that thieves won’t be able to do a single thing. Your personal information, contacts, messages and photos will remain safe.

Once you have received your phone again, you can use MyBitdefender to unlock it.

Multi-device Protection

There are plenty of individuals that have a smartphone, tablet and sometimes even another backup phone. Because of this, paying for anti-theft on just one device is often not quite enough. Fortunately, Bitdefender offers multi-device protection, allowing you to protect multiple devices at once.

Unfortunately pricing will change depending on how many devices you would like to protect. The default package can support one devices for $19.95 a year. Knock the price up to $29.95 and you can protect 3 devices. Finally, $39.95 a year will allow you to protect five devices at once.

Whilst there are cheaper alternatives out there, there is no denying that using Bitdefender Anti Theft for Android users will ensure you’ll be able to protect your personal information any time your device goes missing.
